Hidden Depths Competition Shortlist - Graeme Peacock

Our competition to design an IPIA style print for Edwin Starr's classic song War, was a great success with a really high standard of entry.

You've already seen the winning entry on this blog - see Fri 19 Sep. Over the next five days, we're going to show you the rest of the shortlist all of which were exhibited at the Hidden Depths party earlier this month.

First up is Graeme Peacock whose beautifully crafted entry is pictured above. For more of Graeme's work check out his website.

Hidden Depths presents It's Pop It's Art

Last night It's Pop It's Art took over The Amersham Arms in New Cross for a night of music, design and good beer, as part of San Miguel's Hidden Depths series.

The evening began with our own Austin Wilde behind the decks ahead of an absorbing talk from Kate Moross on her design work and recent forays into the music world.

Following this the Pied Piper of Doodle, Jon Burgerman, lead us on a merry dance to the upstairs gallery where he began work on a brilliant piece based on the lyrics to Edwin Starr's classic song WAR.

That song was the subject of our special San Miguel's Hidden Depths design competition and the shortlist of entrants were displayed alongside some of the regular IPIA range, as well as the brand new Sam Sparro print.

The winner (see picture above) was announced later on in the evening and congratulations to Allan Deas who won a design fee of £500, a crate of San Miguel and his design will become an official part of the IPIA catalogue.

Meanwhile downstairs top notch producer and DJ Paul Epworth was whipping up a disco frenzy before the main event of the evening - a scorching live set from chart-topper Sam Sparro.

What better way to bring the evening to a close than with the inspired music mayhem from Cosmic Fury - aka Fred Deakin and Tom Middleton. Recollections may be a little bit hazy but there was certainly music from The Jungle Book, conga lines and Fred in a mass high-five session with the crowd.

If you can judge a night out on the following morning's hangover then this one gets a 10.
Check out our photos from the event on Flickr.
